It is 8:30pm Saturday, Sept 10th, as I watch the remaining of approximately 1,000 racers of the Lotoja ride into Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It is dark and pouring rain, but they smile obliviously after completing a torturous day of riding 210 miles from Logan, Utah to Jackson, Wyoming. On the menu of weather for the day were 30-40 degree temperatures, rain, snow, and blowing winds. My boyfriend and I joke many times that people who choose to ride these events must really hate fun. Hence the term “Fun Haters”. Honestly though, I have such a deep respect for these latecomers who just kept pedaling to the end. Every year I want to attempt this race but I always find an excuse not to. I guess I am one of those “fun lovers”. These folks gave no excuses and I congratulate them all. Way to go! Give a couple of days for the Lotoja website to update the results and post photos. It is worth checking out.
