Flip Flop Fashion: A mountain town wedding.

As I sat people watching at my third wedding in 9 days I can’t help but stare at the footwear. If you close your eyes and listen you can hear the overwhelming sound of flip-flop…flip-flop. Rarely do you hear the sound of stiletto heels clanking on the hard floor. Usually there is no hard floor during these mountain town weddings. You are normally contending with grassy fields where the stiletto is usually not the best choice. There are those brave few who will use any opportunity to dress up. It is either an uninformed, out of town guest or a local who will use any opportunity to wear her “cute” new heels. It is a crack up watching someone who wears heels maybe once a year walk across a potholed field. “Natural” is not the first word that comes to mind.

Bride and Groom Flip Flops

Here in Jackson, most men and women will likely sport their favorite flip-flop. Some with rhinestones and others just simple rubber. This footwear defines the mountain town wedding. Caution: The rubber sole on a flip flop can cause some problems when you want to tear it up on the dance floor. The combinations of sticky floor with sticky rubber makes you feel as if you are going to high side yourself. BECAREFUL!!
Next time you are debating on whether to bring a back up flip flop for when your heels start to hurt, just ditch the heels entirely and go with the flippies. The flops are in and you do not have to question it. I dare you to wear a pair at an East coast wedding. After a few dirty looks I guarantee envy will settle in.
