
Mountain Hardwear Inc., a leading mountaineering and outdoor equipment and clothing company, has responded to the plea for aid from the US – China Business Council and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to support the earthquake relief efforts in the impacted Sichuan province of China. Mountain Hardwear has donated 628 two-person and three-person tents which were shipped from the USA to China arriving on Monday, June 2nd. Shipping was arranged and paid for by the UPS Foundation, which air freighted a total 125,216 pounds of donated supplies.
“We feel a strong need to help the Chinese people whom we have relied upon for production over the years as we’ve developed our business. Shelter is one of the most basic needs for life and we are relieved that we can help out in any way” said Mike Wallenfels, President of Mountain Hardwear.
