January 27, 2007 (Winter Outdoor Retailer Show Daily Publication): If you’re interested in buying women’s products, simply look for a blue lupine leaf. Womenspecific.com has tagged products designed for women with its signature leaf. Find a product tagged with the leaf and you can also enter a raffle to win it.
If you spot a product with the leaf, drop a business card or contest form in the treasure chest located at that company’s booth. Be sure to write the name of the products you discovered on your card or form. You can enter one form at each participating booth for a chance to win the tagged items.
More than 50 exhibitors are participating in the Scavenge-HER Hunt, including Marmot, Sierra Designs and Smartwool. Some companies have tagged multiple products within their booths. Participating companies paid $100 per item to draw attention to products designed specifically for women. Proceeds will be donated to the Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC).
Womenspecific, com and the OIWC organized the Scavenge-HER Hunt to raise awareness of women’s products and companies that are committed to making them.”We are trying to make a little bit of a presence for Womenspecific.com at OR as we are relaunching with a whole new format. We are trying to become a comprehensive consumer report for women’s gear,” said Jannine Witte, founder of Womenspecific.com. “It’s a way to have some visibility at the show and also raise money for a nonprofit that focuses on women in the industry.
Tagged products will be raffled off after the show.
