Over the past year, I have been enjoying the suspicious pleasure of flying a fully tricked out kite. Not wanting to share the ease of flying a technical kite, I have broken down to share this feat. Something that looks difficult to fly actually requires virtually no instruction.
The OZONE Little Devil Stunt Kite 1.5 meter is built with the same exacting, millimeter accurate standards as any certified paraglider. It weighs less than 500 grams. The LD Stunt comes with 4 flying lines and handles already attached. If this is your first kite since childhood, wear comfortable shoes in a windy field, and have fun!
Optimal Conditions: 15+ mph wind in one direction in an open field. Please note, Ozone’s Little Devil Stunt kite is a bit of an animal. Fast, sensitive, and never content to stay still, I’d recommend clearing the park of dogs and children before you pull it out of its bag. Read the enclosed manual; it is very useful and easy to understand.
Upon launch, BE ALERT! Be gentle on the toggles, finesse is necessary. Look up, stand in the wind, walk back and pull up. When the kite is in the air, gently move toggles one arm at a time, creating small arcing turns, eventually leading into a helicopter (if desired), then reverse. Once you feel comfortable with the toggles, easy wrist flicks work just as well and take strain off arms.
As you get more comfortable with this effort, it will become increasingly powerful and more active. The more you challenge the kite the more apt you will be to take air off the ground. Feel the wind, move with its changing directions and let the kite FLY!
Upon impact, think about the re-launch, if the kite is upside down, give the lower toggle a tug and vise versa. Be smart, NEVER walk with toggles to the kite; the lines will be tangled forever. When putting kite away, read directions, or have an experienced kite flyer show you.
