Taking flight in New Zealand

Have you ever had the opportunity to go to another part of the world where the seasons are opposite? This past winter I had the chance to go on a guided paragliding trip to New Zealand. The weather was as it is today in the US. Actually, exactly as it is today, since it was 6 months ago. I saved this writing for that exact purpose. What a treat; I feel like I have been spoiled with lots of summer in the past 12 months. I traveled with my husband, Scott and two other paragliding couples who could not wait for another summer of flying in the US. I had other activities in mind as well. I prepared myself for long hikes and trail runs, kite flying, tandem paragliding, checking out wineries, smelling lavender, climbing, eating lamb, fresh fish, wine, and fresh produce. It was also my second time in New Zealand and I wanted to stoke up the memories.

Alpine Club of Pakistan Officials Forced to Make Difficult Decision, Hours before American Alpine Club Representatives Depart for Islamabad, Pakistan

Golden, Colorado, July 18, 2007—An eight-member team of American Alpine Club representatives were set to depart for Islamabad, Pakistan Monday for the much anticipated Pakistani Women’s Climbing Camp. The unfortunate news that the camp must be postponed came just hours before the women’s scheduled departure.

Isis AWARDS ANNUAL Goddess FUND Scholarship

Fund Rewards Inspirational Women with Mindful Outdoor Retreats

BURLINGTON, Vermont ( July 17, 2007) –ISIS, known for its commitment to design, innovation, fit and performance in apparel for active women, announces that Dawn Wood from Kalamazoo, Michigan is the winner of its second annual Goddess Fund Scholarship. GRACE & GRIT: A UNIQUE WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE FOR WOMEN 45+

This August, ten women will prove that adventure truly lives in the soul when they join The Women’s Wilderness Institute’s new llama-supported backpacking course. The Institute, a nonprofit organization that offers educational and inspirational outdoor courses for women and girls, has expanded offerings for women 45 and over, adding a new course in its “Grace & Grit” series called Hiking with Llamas.

Last Day of the Over The Bars Women’s Mountain Bike: DIrty Girls, the talk of the Town!

Sounds like a success! IT appears that the single Snowmass men were keeping their eyes out on the ladies! Congrats to all and look forward to the next camp!

This is was a week long women’s camp that not only worked on bike handling skills, but also incorporated mental and physical wellness as well.
