This past Memorial Day weekend I headed out for the first time on a road trip that did NOT involve packing up the bikes, helmets, GU’s, tools, and such. Instead, I loaded up into a Toyota mini-van with 4 others and we headed to the Gorge Amphitheater in George, Washington for the Sasquatch Festival. We headed out with some car camping gear, coolers full of food and cold beverages, dancing legs, and overflowing excitement to see some of our favorite bands.
Over five days, with an average of twelve women, products from over 20 companies were tested and reviewed this past April in Moab. The results and reviews of the products tested are now complete in this informative gear guide. This was an amazing group of ladies with cycling abilities ranging from beginner to pro riders. In this guide you will read reviews of various gear ranging from apparel to bicycles, find out the reviewers best of products and read their bios, and check out our photo gallery that will tell the entire story. This is a great start for many of you who are looking to buy some new cycling gear.
There are so many bike saddles out there: narrow, wide, gel soft, rock hard, with a channel, and without. There are so many things to consider: Are you looking for comfort? Performance? Lightweight? Colorful?
To answer these questions you must do your research. Reading saddle reviews in the bike magazines and online is a good starting point. But, this will not give you an idea if the saddle fits you well or not. Your next step is to call up your local bike shop(s) and ask if they have a saddle library.
Everyday in our bike shop we have women and men come in looking for road cycling jersey’s. The classic comment from these cyclists is, “I am not a very hard core rider and do not want to buy a jersey too loud for my skill.” Basically, they are asking for the natural tone jersey rather than the neon orange and yellow.
STOP…
Before you go buying that forest green biking jersey you should consider this…YOU WANT TO BE LOUD AND RECOGNIZABLE!!!!!
Yes…from May 12-14, 2006 comes another amazing HERA event for all you boys and girls. This year on Mother’s Day enjoy some climbing at Smith Rocks.

Excited to try out a ski that is meant for telemarking, meant for a women, and with funky unique graphics. I am usually on a guy ski meant for alpine skiing.
As I pull out the sandy, sweaty, smelly cycling clothes from my bag this morning I start laughing at the chain of events that occurred this past weekend. After sand storms, many mechanicals….bikes (All due to sand) and vehicle (Good thing we were not reviewing Chevy Astro Vans), all the ladies from the Womenspecific.com review team are sadly back home dealing with reality.
