I'll take a dog and some fries.

For starters, how cute are my doggies (Above header photo)? After a day of trail building they look very wet, tired & happy. Not to mention the sweet aroma of french fries they smell as we drive down the road. Yes, that is our 1988 Ford F250 running on bio diesel. We are in the process of converting it to SVO. What better way to recycle waste oil than to use it for fuel. I recommend learning more about alternative fuel options. Time, or should I say oil, is running out.

Sustainability is not women's specific.

Last night I was fortunate to hear Yvon Chouinard speak at a sustainability conference in Jackson Hole. The man behind Patagonia is also the man behind other major achievements. This initial “non”-business man created a business and lifestyle that found him success is so many ways.

Fund Free Mammograms.

The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota for donating at least one free mammogram each day to an underprivileged woman. It takes only a few seconds to go to their site and click on “donating a mammogram” (the rectangular pink button in the middle). There’s no financial obligation; it doesn’t cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammograms in exchange for advertising. Click on the this link, then pass it along to people you know.

The Zion Freeride Festival: A Women's Specific Perspective

What a gas, and what a workout. That’s the best way to describe the first ever Zion Freeride Festival in Virgin, UT. Held on the ridge lines directly behind the former Red Bull Rampage site, the festival was open to all riders with the main focus being fun instead of competition. It was a 2-day festival that gave participants a chance to ride the unique terrain outside of Zion National park with former Rampage participants and other pro riders. Coupled with food available at the venue, a great band and free camping under incredibly starry skies, the festival was well worth attending.

Female freeriders love the desert.

November tends to be a bit annoying around the northern Rockies: Too cold and wet for riding, but not enough snow for skiing. What does an adrenaline junkie do? Desert biking.

World Rafting Champions – Friends become Competitors

It is hard to imagine only 1 1/2 months ago I was exploring the Siberian wilderness, with Nikki Kelly, raising money for the Russian Children’s hospital. Now in 12 days I will put on my country colours and compete ferociously against her in the 2005 World Rafting Championships taking place in Ecuador.

Leaving Las Vegas: Women’s Specific + Bicycle= Interbike…sometimes.

Sorry it has been a while since I have written. I have been in Las Vegas at the 2005 Interbike. This trade show attracted approximately 22,000 retailers, exhibitors, media, athletes, and distributors in the bike industry. Who’s who and what’s what in the cycling industry were all present.
